this is a poem i wrote a long time ago, and i want to know what people think of it.
Beleive in the Gods

For the life of his daughter,
A man gave his world,
For the chance to see,
How his daughter’s hair curled.

For when this girl,
A delicate sprite,
Was born, her mother,
Went to the great light.

And now this girl,
Was the only thing,
That made this man,
Feel like a king.

But she was not healthy,
And she would die,
The man was sure,
He could not lie.

So he went to the gods,
And said unto them,
“I’ll take any punishment,
that you will condemn.

But keep my daughter,
As alive as you can,
I’ll do anything,
thats possible for a man.

And so the gods,
Had a great talk,
And agreed the man,
Would see his daughter walk.

But the gods wanted something,
To be given back.
And so the man was called,
And was given a plaque.

On it decreed,
That he give up,
Something he loved,
Like the privilege to sup.

But they wanted,
Something else to keep,
And so they took,
All of his sleep.

And so he watched,
His daughter grow tall,
He watched her lovingly,
Through it all

He watched through the fights,
With her and her beau,
And her frustration,
As she learnt to bake dough..

And then the time came,
To give her a house,
He gave her all of his,
For her and her spouse.

As her children grew,
He watched it all,
And told them stories,
Of spring, winter, summer and fall.

But on his dying day,
His daughter was there,
To comfort him more,
Than he thought fair.

He watched her beside him,
As he finally slept,
And gave in to the darkness,
from which he was kept.

His last wish,
Was a little bit odd,
He said to always,
Believe in the gods.
