It was an assignment from my English course: A sonnet that focused on a relationship.
Forgiveness

My love for forgiveness is oh so strong
Without this gesture my path is unclear
Something so precious you couldn’t go wrong
To me, this love is so extremely dear

Though I carry with me my cloak of fears
My betrayal is strange and runs far deep
This burden I bare brings forth many tears
Unfaithful was I when you fell asleep

Nothing I can say will now let you keep
I deserve no better than you received
Please, don’t stay awake to make restless weep
I’m simply not worthy to have you grieve

Forgiveness is for a love who can stay
Please, live on and let me escape away.
