a disenchanted lover speaks
was it all just crocodile tears and chocolate kisses?
little fishes cast out to catch bigger wishes?
all the shine is a lie rust will ignore,
the shattered door washes up on the shore
and explains away the words you spoke --
your arms about my neck are a lying yoke.
and i thought you an angel in my heaven
but yours is a soul charity wouldn’t leaven:
i come to you with nothing but empty hands,
i’m just another giver no taker understands;
i’m a hostage to your list of urgent demands …
we’ll deal with and ignore my reprimands.
