Dedicated to my beautiful daughter,Bronte, celebrating her birth.

A miracle so small and slight,
Was born upon this world tonight,
Her little digits, a score in all,
And yet she’s only one foot tall.
Her eyes, they glisten with surprise,
What of this world?, she can’t surmise,
“There are giants looking down upon this bed“,
She thinks inside her tiny head.
What of this one who’s holding me?
I’m frightened, please leave me be.
But wait a moment, she thinks instead,
She is also lying upon this bed,
She must be Mom, that must be Dad,
Who’s laughing, he seems quite mad.

Now Mom’s crying, is she sad?
Oh, no, I think she’s glad
I’m glad too, she thinks aloud
But only a crying sound comes out.
And now I’m tired, I’ll take a nap,
Upon my Mommy’s nice warm lap,
And dream a dream of families,
I’d like to live in one of these.
A brother, sister, come what may,
Will also share this wondrous day,
With Mom and Dad and me maybe,
We’ll build branches in our family tree,
Until at last we have a house,
Of miracles, and me of course."
