Plays with the question of defining happiness
Happiness Is……

Do I truly desire happiness,
or do I flinch from it in fear?
Do I really want what I do not know,
- is its meaning even clear?

Is happiness like a flower,
in that first you must plant a seed?
Then spend all your days a-watching it,
lest it be vanquished by the weeds?

Is happiness like a gentle spring,
That wells from deep within?
Or is it like a drenching rain,
That soaks you to the skin?

Is happiness even tangible -
or just a figment of one’s mind?
A clever, complex platitude,
so deceitfully designed?

Is the act of seeking happiness,
a pointless and painful thing?
Like chasing a special butterfly,
knowing my grasp will crush its wings?
