This is about friends and lovers. Sometimes they save you; sometimes they destroy.
I was all alone till you came to me,

Lighting up my life with the spark that is you,

I clung to you desperately, needing you so,

You were my defender against the world’s cruel pain,

You brought out the light that is in me so it blazed,

You gave me your devoted attention so precious,

I flourished under the rain of your love,

Together we were powerful and beautiful,

Now I am the strong one defending you,

Your pain is my pain burning me inside out,

Your light is dimming till all you are is a reflection of him,

Still I give my all, screaming your release for it is mine,

I see him filling you like a disease, an addiction,

You feel you are not worthy of another’s love,

The truth is that I am barely worthy of yours,

I see you stick the needle of his love in your soul,

Every day I die just a little more from losing you,

Do you care that your need for him is poisoning me,

I will never truly leave you for what am I without you,

You were my anchor in the storm of life,

Now I am chained by love, drowning as you breathe him in,

The trust once so sacred is now caged in fear.
