This is a woman who wakes and wonders if her changed true love has forgotten her.
In departing from you in that midnight hour,
You left me feeling sweet yet sour.
I woke with a dampened chill,
A moment so quiet and so still.

Displacement instantly overwhelmed me,
Restlessness roared as the unwavering sea.
Freedom was my gift, Oh, how I was bound,
In my contentment I made not a sound.

The scent of paradise has lingered since,
Against fate’s will submission was dispensed.
Like blooming spring with no May flower,
And thunder without a shower.

Where is that place it has gone to?
Is it left never to be found within you?
Was it all to be forgotten?
The moon is more easily begotten.
