One of my favorite past times
I walk by the gates
Through which other were carried
The final resting place
Of so many who have gone ahead

A peaceful calm overtakes me
I open my book to write
Words are all around
Names and dates of the past

Others fear this place
I rlish in its tranquility
It is a safe place
Comforting me immensely

Closing my book I rise
Walking through the rows
Reading history not recorded
Hundreds of years of forgotten souls

Such a mysterious place to some
Family visitation for others
Although to someone like myself
A treasure chest waiting to be opened
