one sleepless night
Sleepless

A restless mind, an open heart
A tortured soul crying out for grace

Her glowing visage beckons
Silver ribbons sliding over tangled sheets

Heart pounding, slipping from the bed
Eyes wide as Her call is answered

Bare feet dance upon frigid ground
Pajamas flap in the midnight breeze

Arms lifted like a child wanting to be held
Waiting with breathless anticipation for Her command

The sable cloak of darkness enfolding
Warmth spreads through the limbs

Owl cries, time slows
Mist slips in, stars fade

Clouds veil her from view
Light remains

Sleep comes at last
Wrapped in the comfort of Mother’s love
