Fighting a battle to be yourself...
The lightning striked
The thunder roared
The rain came down
It poured and poured

I sat by my window
And watched the rain come down
My mind was in a blur
It spinned round and round

My life was a mess
I hated school
For I had no friends
I wasn't "cool"

I walked into school
And looked around
The huge hallways
Were filled with sound

Guys chased each other
Down the halls
Girls gossiped
About boys and malls

They all have friends
They drink and smoke
I however
Find it no joke

"Would you like one?"
My new "friend" asked
I looked at the cigarette
As if it were a task

I was scared
I didn't want to
Deep down inside
I knew what to do

I finally opened my eyes
And began to see
These people weren't my friends
They didn't really like me

My real friends are out there
I've seen them inm dreams
Until then I'm fighting a battle
A battle to be me.
