A tribute to my mom who passed away in 2001, a poem for Mother's Day.
MURIEL

You left us on a cool Autumn night,
A last breath in a world that you gave so much;
I was not with you when your soul passed on,
Your only remaining son was asleep at home;
I regret not being there when you departed that night,
A Mom who was my best friend, my only friend;
The years have passed yet I miss you more and more,
An Angel who picked me up all those times I fell;
The smile you gave so often to so many in life,
The laughter you shared even when you were so sad;
Your pain and suffering was so hard to witness,
So undeserving for the Saint that you were down here;
The comfort I get comes from the person you helped make me,
And as you look down form the Heavens I try so not to disappoint thee;
So thanks for the beach, the circus and the wonderful times you gave me,
Also the character you instilled inside me, which has guided me through;
I will always miss you my Dearest Mother Muriel,
And I hope to fill the last seat that waits by you in Heaven;
So as I close this tribute to the Lady who gave all of herself to me,
Have a Happy Mothers Day and soon with you I’ll be.
