For You

As I performed for you
On what seemed like a golden stage,
I saw the glint in your eye.
Our eyes met for the first time that day;
It was then that I realised I loved you.
Time could have slowed to a halt in that moment
And the world could have ended around us.
For a moment we were one,
I was yours
And you were mine.
A precious moment that I treasure still.

When the tears came to my eyes again,
You were there to comfort me.
I found a sanctuary in your arms
A safe place that I could call my own.
Your kiss on my cheek sent warmth through my body
And my tears would soon be no more.
Many a time I waited by the phone
Hoping you would call me and tell me your love.
But that call never came,
And the closer to you I dared to come
The more you seemed to pull away
