this is based on an understanding of why a relationship had to end
When I look back
at you and me
I can relax
because it was meant to be
temporary.

To say I'm in a state of apathy
would be bitter-sweet
because I don't want you to know
how much you hurt me
now I know it was meant to be
only meant to be
temporary

I loved you
as much as you loved me
that short time gave us peace,
in our hell
we were training
and you could make my heart swell
even when it was raining
and the drill sargeant would yell
we would help each other out
It just goes to show
that we were always meant to meet
but we were only allowed to be
temporary

You had a son
his mother meant nothing
so I became your love
and I was very accepting
we were freinds
until the end of training
when I became yours
and you became mine
everyone knew
except you and I
that this was only going to be
temporary

You were sent back home to Hawaii
and me to New York City
we both knew it couldn't be
your son needed a family
not you and me
It's too hard to talk
you feel it too
because you loved me
and I loved you
so this is good bye
we must never meet
so I just want you to know
my love for you will never be
It will never be temporary.
