Life, and a gift to the husband on christmas
The sun sets in a golden spray
as night unfolds her wings.
A gentle wind brings thoughts what may
lay waiting with the spring.

The last of winter's gift of snow
lies fading like the sun,
while new green sprouts begin to show
where fresh, sweet waters run.

As the sun lays down to sleep,
a peaceful quiet unfolds.
The animals to bed do creep,
while night's great beasts unroll.

As nature's eye does open wide,
the seasons roll away.
Some lives do fall by the side,
while others live and play.

So goes the great game of life,
no matter, come what may.
All earth's creatures gain, or strife,
must listen to what it says.

So when your heart and soul may find
life's game as dark and cold as night,
remember spring and warmth and light,
and trust the gifts that you might find.

Enjoy the light, enjoy the night,
be grateful for the gifts they bring,
for every winter has a spring,
and every night, a light,
which only patience brings.
