A poem about drug abuse, again as an English class assignment.
Plagued and clouded, the abuser’s mind,
A life existing with no purpose to find.

Capsule form poison resting on their tongues,
Venomous gases permeating their lungs.

In their veins courses their bane,
Removing from their mind all that is sane.

Rotting and festering, sentenced to death,
Infectious disease, from their last hit of Meth.

Lost and alone, their souls bound in chains,
In their ethereal world, addiction reigns.

Bitter tastes of drugs, a life that is sour,
In the eternal flames, forever where they shower.

Dealing with the devil, sold their soul for one last fix,
Hopeless beings on the River Styx.

Cursed are their lives, sent on a highway to hell,
All for a thirst that they could not quell.

Thus is their existence, their mark on the Earth,
Plaguing humanity, due to a lack of worth.

Ending in sight, death becoming near,
Society as a whole will shed no tear.

In the end their lives were without meaning,
And to the pits of hell their souls are careening.

Bitter tastes.
Altered minds.
Flaming souls.
And battered lives.
