"Don't lose faith, because faith is all we have."
we drank to the sky, and smiled,
shook hands with roland's ghost
I introduced you to the stars,
told you their names, and who's friendly,
and which ones will answer your tears
and which ones will pretend to forget

the sky was every shade of black,
just like it will be tomorrow night
"I promise, I promise."
you promised. she promised once too.
"I'll be as constant as the stars."
her star is all she left.

we're so tired now, but you can't sleep
the lullabye is keeping you awake
I'm sorry darling, its the only one I know
and I can never stop singing. you said
to never stop singing.
I promised. you promised once too.

"I promise on your star" you said
"the constance of your star" you said
but I think my star is already fading,
your promise is already fading
I don't trust the night sky anymore
I'm sorry, I don't trust it anymore

"don't lose faith" you said
"because faith is all we have."
well I had her, I had the stars,
I had the beautiful, deep, empty night sky.
they're all gone. all I have now
is this faith. is this faith?

"because faith is all we have."
I asked: don't I have you?
"forever." you promised. I smiled.
no. not even the stars are forever.
if faith is all I have, forever,
then please have faith in me

tonight, while the stars are still shining,
before the night sky is lost,
and before you leave
