Extended metaphor on the aftermath of an ended relationship.

Close the box
Set the lock
Turn to stone
Don't be alone
Bite your lip
Shut your eyes
Memorize the reasons why
Remind yourself of pretty lies
Of blind and battered butterflies
Don't check the date
Don't count the time
Remind yourself of every crime
And let the pain all melt inside
To form a sea, a raging tide
Which grows and grows and never dries
And slowly leaks out through your eyes
