once upon a lie..

In storybooks the hero makes his way
So fast we hardly stop to think:
"how quickly there he did decide!
But shh here goes the story."

Did perhaps the prince sit back
And weigh up what was his to risk?
"Stay here and sip a glass of ale
Or battle for a beauty?"

If this was how the tale was told
When I was once not yet so old
Perhaps I'd gaze with glassy eyes
At men who cannot yet decide.
