My take on the first meeting with a therapist.
I feel very nervous,
Not sure of what to say,
My head feels full of nonsense,
I know it’s all about me.

My mouth feels wide open,
But there’s no words coming out,
They’re all stuck there,
In my throat; choking me

Inside is all solid and firm,
Barriers are like castle walls,
Up, strong and nothing can pass,
But I need to let it all out!

The face opposite me,
Is smiling; seems friendly enough,
I sit down and try to relax,
My breathing calms me slightly.

As I begin my tale,
I know he’s listening,
This is the first step for me,
‘Just being heard’.
