the darker side of love
Love

It sits on my shoulder, always there, never gone
Talons rip into my skin, blood flows free
A surge of pain, a sense of life
It’s doesn’t wilfully hurt, it just tries to be

I want to run, be rid off this thing
This creature of pain, inseparable from me
We had ounce been apart, but more pain did that bring
I can’t be apart; it’s claws deep within me

How did I get addicted to this?
A pain I cannot help but kiss
I need it like I need the air I swallow
To give it away, would be to embrace being hollow

I feel faint, the blood still flows
It’s like I’m drowning, I feel warm
The ocean recedes, leaving an army of foes
I will battle them all, I have my conviction

Love conquers all?
