A dream I had.
She stood there, at my right, an angel.
Blonde hair cut close, short, quiet,
A woman never envisioned on my own.

Elevators unsafe, stairs mistrusted
She knew another way.
We climb.

Ascending, within this corporate structure
Origins unknown, dreamstuff, yet still
A threat in this nocturnal world.

She pauses, out of reach, and turns,
Bent over half at the waist, to catch my eye,
A taunt, a tease, my heart ignites.

Surely this girl alone is my true love,
Not even my mind could summon forth
A beauty such as this.

I reach my hand toward hers,
As she nimbly slips down
My hand misses only just.

I follow, hurried, we are seen,
Our purpose, clandestine, perhaps discovered.
We will meet outside. Go now.

This dream goes on,
But she is left behind.
No matter how I try, I never see her.

All thoughts of worldly love have vanished now
This succubus or angel espouses my only desire.
That I might know her, touch her, love her.

Lost in the world behind my eyes,
Days now, her face less than clear,
Lingers in my mind.

Two travelers meet in their dreams,
And who can know the truth of it but they,
Who night’s paths walk, and, waking, rue the day.
