A poem about an unwelcome addition to my family.
Stepmother

So smug, so sure,
Your evil so pure.
Of twisted mind and ugly body,
You sit and wait
Like a spider in its web
To weave your unsuspecting prey
Into your dark little world,
To make him stay,
To make him pay,
Push all the others away,
Turning possibilities into nothing,
Spinning nightmares from daylight,
You stalk
You manipulate
You take and destroy,
With no right.

Now you've snared him in your sticky lair,
Weaving evil fibers in and around
To make your final strike.
It's done,
Your fangs embedded
You begin to suck his faith,
Devouring loyalty and love,
You leave an empty shell.
I hope you burn in hell.
This husk of a man
Is your legacy
And my tragedy.
You've left me with nothing
But incomplete memories.
