this is a poem born of a flashback, fueled by deja vu!
i was talking to a shadow of my former self
when i noticed a ray of wrinkled sunlight tucked into my sleeve
so i backed into the corner where they kept the cigarette machine
and played an old memory in my head
when the cobwebs cleared i choked out nostalgia
withdrew my gaze and made my way past her
