This poem is about a loosing a loved one
For you I rejoice, for myself I cry
You have found the path to true happiness, the cup of eternal youth
You have found the streets paved with gold, an over abundance of love to unfold
I cry because I cannot join you
You suddenly left without me
You left me here alone

For you I say "Praise God", for myself I say why
Now you don't have to feel anymore pain, your discomfort and grief is washed away
Your spirit will brighten the heavens with each passing day
In spite of that I say why because I am jealous
Why are you fortunate enough to leave
Why did it have to be you and not me

For you I am compassionate, for myself I have no empathy
You had to endure so much pain, your body was so tired
Your spirit remained strong, even when the answers to your prayers prolonged
For myself I say you should have fought harder
You should have lived your life smarter
You should have held on for us

For you I lift up, for myself I accept
As a loved one I will celebrate your life
I will remind everyone of your warmth, kindness, and love
I will place praise on your name and glorify your spirit
For myself I come to acknowledge that it was your time to go
I attempt to come to an understanding with God's terms
I realize most importantly that it is not about me

For you I remember, for myself I let go
