Just a little bit about myself and family.
“Who are you?” is that what you asked, ok that seems easy to do.
But I’m sitting here trying to answer and asking myself that too.
In order to answer I have to look back on the journey that brought me here.
I won’t bore you with ALL the details so you really have nothing to fear.
Born in the South, Georgia in fact, expected to be full of charm?
Somehow, I am certain, thinking back, I was more a cause for alarm.
For seven (or 8) years, Florida was home with my parents, a bro and a sis
But like many, I’m sure, who can also relate, a divorce changed all of this.
The Big Easy was calling so we headed west in a big ole U-haul truck
Me, my sister, my brother, and Mom who was needing lotsa luck.
This new life starts as I become a teen and well, you’ve all been there!
The typical things teens do to rebel; yeah I took part in my fair share.
I got a job out of high school, had to have my own money to play
But a year after that, the job was gone, the company closed down one day.
So to the USN I went, both to leave home and to be employed.
Who knew at that time that joining up would be my greatest joy
In Spain, that’s where I met Dennis, my best friend, my lover, my life
I was thrilled to death the day he asked for me to be his wife.
In April of 1990, we said to each other “I do”
The judge spoke Spanish, we did not, but our license says its true.
In July of that year, our first child was born, really early, and really small
Three pounds, six ounces at 31 weeks, Eryn is what she’d be called.
Five weeks later, she was healthy enough, we were able to bring her home
After 16 years, you’d never know how she struggled the day she was born.
Bobbye, our second and last, so ya know, came along in 95.
She was late, but just by a day, weighed 7 pounds even, just right.
I do their hair, paint their nails, and listen to “funny stories”
It’s amusing to think “what outfit to wear” is one their biggest worries.
They are healthy and happy and I hope for them both to live “happily ever after”
Two little girls who brightened our lives with their love, their kisses, and laughter
My days are filled with work and play, they never are long enough
I’m a typical Mom who cooks and cleans, does laundry and other stuff
I ride a motorcycle; it’s great to be out on the road
I still like to party and I’m sure if you asked, that is what you’d be told
I like to read and sit on the porch just watching the cows or the cars
I hate to go shopping, just not my thing, it’s kinda like being behind bars.
I like to plant flowers and work in the yard; I love the smell of cut grass
I wash my own car, my own bike too, man those wheels are a pain in the ass
I’m not into jewelry or candy and stuff, the things that some girls chase
But “things” are not what matters most, to me in any case
My job is not exciting, it would take way too long to explain
So I say to myself, all day long, “pays the bills”, so I don’t go insane.
My life is pretty simple, full of “normal” daily stuff
Don’t get me wrong, that’s not a complaint, for me it is more than enough
I’ve had my ups and downs at times like anybody else
But as I said, I won’t tell ALL, I’ll just keep that to myself.
I try my best each day to be a good wife, good mother, good friend
That will be what matters most when my time comes to an end.
So there you have it, a brief run down of “Me” and who I really am
Not sure if I gave you more information than was the original plan.
I know where I’ve been, I know where I’m at, where I’m going is anyone’s guess
I will tell you this; I know in my heart that my life is truly blessed.
