 LONELY ROAD  (E)
Published poem written for the lonely hearts
#1137882 by SHERRI GIBSON

Wandering down a dark lonely road
Believing I’m the nothing like continually told
Even the sunset that once enchanted me,
Now appears to be as disheartened as I seem to be

The ideals once cherished have faded away
There’s no looking back on yesterday
The stars in the night sky now shine less bright
As I wander down the road tonight

Don’t ask me to count blessings that I’ve lost
Played with love and paid one hell of a cost
There aren’t any rainbows or pots of gold
On the path I walk known as the lonely road
