Dastardly dashing squirrels defy death as they dash into, and across streets
Squirrels

Dwelling in a forest, or a bustling city,
You will see them scampering fast along the ground,
their dazzling bushy tails waving in the breeze.
as they dart from one tree to the next.

In the early morning light, they are almost invisible
as they dance, and then disappear in the headlights of the cars,
or sometimes they will sit transfixed in the middle of the street,
daring to be hit by a fast moving car.

It is almost like a duel;
Who will chicken out first?
Is it the driver wrapped in a ton of steal, or the squirrel?

It looks as if the squirrel will stand his ground,
and then at the last second it will dart either right or left;
What ever way it flees from its’ imminent demise,
it is usually the wrong direction.

In desperation, good drivers will do their best to avoid crushing the cute,
but diabolical bushy tails, by slamming on the breaks,
even if it means bouncing a hot Latte or coffee off the dash of the cars
and drowning the carpet.

Now with a drenched lap, and a dashboard coated
with coffee, the driver now desires to crush the next
cute, cuddly critter that decides to venture into their path.

O well! Why bother?

The car will clean up,
and the devoted caffeine addict knows
Without a doubt that there is another Espresso stand
just around the bend.
