Love poem; set from when I was scared to fall in love, to now when I'm dying for her.
Don't scold me with your needs, I only want to beat this down
Bring back my walls, don't leave me weak
I'm not willing to give in to you
Not yet -
I know this tone of voice you're whispering in
I've felt the fever that dwells within those words
This pale companion to love - my heart
You're bruised, you're battered down and beat
Sing me songs and tell me stories while I heal you
Explain this phenomenon to me;
How the girl with no fear, the one who didnt trust love
Tumbled right into your arms, unquestioning.
Immobilize my body, shackle my heart to their ground
No matter which; they fail to capture me
Your love sets me free
Time is an illusion, we only have right now
Everything we feel in this moment
Shout out the words of your heart to me and I will follow your fate
To bristle myself with embarassment
While you smile your secret enjoyment
I yearn for forever inside your arms
This comfortable eternity, accept my destiny as your own
We can fight fate's temptations and traps together
Somehow we'll make it farther than they find true
I know, I've seen the world behind your eyes
I've felt the love that saturates your broken soul
Incapable of comprehension
It's consuming me from the inside out -
Is there room in this world for a fire like ours?
So hott to the touch; it burns those who don't belong
Meant to be, we leave them breathless
Screaming at the top of their lungs that we're wrong
But I want your scoldings, help me push my walls away
While I scale the ones guarding the sanctuary that is you
We've done it.
Shakespearian and tragically but we've made it this far
Just whisper two words and I'll forever belong to you
Squeeze my hand in response to "Do you"
Say you do, scream I do
I know,
We do.
