Sometimes closing the doorway to your heart is a necessity
Used to believe in pretty words,
Used to believe love was real.
Now left feeling both are absurd
Love has lost its appeal

The doorway to my heart now locked,
The key tossed away in the wind
Forever I’ll keep the doors blocked,
For I won’t be hurt again

Played for a fool by one I thought cared,
Played a game I undoubtedly lost
How I wish now that my heart hadn’t been bared,
For now I’ve paid an extravagant cost

Closed is the doorway to my heart forever,
Barricaded to protect it from pain
Gone are the dreams I swore no one could sever,
For I refuse to be hurt again
