TV thoughts
These dying lilies upon newspaper mess
This fading light behind the window frame
This TV on – this spawn of spiteful press
A box broadcasting world’s hatred and disdain

Behind the screen – austere looks and business suits
And words that never change and stay the same
For every day I keep hearing the news
Of yet more killings, yet more suffering and pain

I watch the bloody informational disgrace
Of bombings, wars, political intrigues
Of “people” turning their children into slaves
Of power masters playing bogus tricks.

I watch the ludicrous five-star show-off
Casting: precious croons with brains the size of pin
Rich youngsters whose buts need to be taken care of
And paparazzis whose noses simply crave a trim

I think: Is this brain-sucking trash
This vainglorious exhibition of the world
This striking contrast and never-ceasing clash
Is this really all we’ve got?
