The Seawitch

The Seawitch tosses
In the roiling storm.
As waves break against her dark hull,
There is not a mortal soul to be found.
After the pall has lifted,
Not a shadow remains.
No hint
Of the cruelty of the sea,
No trace
Of the tempest’s fell purpose.
Death,
With its sightless eyes,
Has banished the Seawitch and her crew
To their fates
In heaven,
Or in hell.
