An elderly person thinking what it's like to be young again
Background on poem...
I wrote this poem showing the positive aspect of growing older.
Enjoy!

OPEN WINDOW
By nice_woman26

I am an elderly person
wondering where all the years have gone.

I rise from my bed and
open my bedroom window.

I peer down at the world below.

Children
laughing with joy.
Children
playing hopscotch.
Children
playing tag with their friends.

I breathe deeply
and smell summer;
Freshly mown grass,
the neighbor's pine tree,
the dampness of fresh dew.

The open window holds
the innocence of youth;
Laughter,
Joy,
Anticipation,
Excitement.

I will leave my window open
always in my heart.
