A poem recalling a past love
I would remember

As I walk along this beach water lapping at my feet
My thoughts return to you
Remembering all the thoughts that we shared
I wonder where you are

I wonder if we would happen to meet on this beach
would you recognize me
if we happened to pass on the street
I am sure I would remember you

How could I not recognize the first person I ever loved
The first man allowed in to my fragile little world.
Time does funny tricks to the body it is true
But the connection of another's soul pulls at each crossing
Just as the moon pulls against the tide

So as I pass people by on the street
I study their faces
looking for that subtle tug
because I...
I would remember you
