Observing nature - attempt at non-rhyming poetry
Natures Peace

As I sat on yonder hill
a hawk circled lazily above
I observed the sun relinquish its hold
to make way for the nightfall soon to come

The stars flickered dimly
waiting for the full of darkness
before they begin their nightly dance
The shadows set heavy on neighboring hillsides
and the sky set up in flames

Brilliant oranges, translucent reds, pale pinks,
and several lavender streaks gently framed its beauty
And as the sun sank deeply behind the horizon
the moon stood out in fullness
as if in charge of the night sky
gently illuminating the earth below
and a cloud dare not tread on this great vastness of beauty

And not a sound came to my ears
except for those of nature herself
The sweeping of water on rocks of the river
which sat not far below in the ravine
The wind rustling softly through the dried leaves of summer
and the song of the crickets
and all nightly animals came to me as a great chorus
and left heart and soul in peaceful tranquility

And as my eyes and ears and heart and soul
filled with this natural serenity
the burden of days long past was lifted
and all was at peace

And sadly as many things must come to pass
so must my correlation with this natural grandeur
Yet as I walked back to my fate
I carried with me the equanimity this essence had bestowed upon me

And when the burdens of the day bears heavy upon my shoulders
Alas ~ I close my eyes and remember...
...Remember my experience upon that hillside
and all is peaceful
If only for a moment
