don't be too quick to judge!
This man is not aware of
the cussing that goes on.
He only knows to feel the sun above
or to touch things once before they're gone.

He does not know about the man
who lives out on the street.
But he feels the tan
on his own skin, that smells of sweat, but sweet.

The man down on the street
is called, by many, a bum,
But he gets his arm as they meet
at the corner, as the cars come.

The so-called bum helps this man
to get across the busy street,
And waves his hand like a fan
As this man gives him the shoes on his feet.

This man is deaf and blind, you see
but he surely is not dumb,
For he knows the hardships in life to be
As he stokes the arm of the so-called bum.
