Beginning of the End

But for each new dawn
That brings each new spring
A new heartbreak arises
That each new day brings

The grass may appear green
You might think the sky is blue
But underneath the mask of happy
You'll find what's really true

That in this universe
The real world is held at bay
So the twisted happenstances
Can delight in each heartbreak

As God sits on his throne
And tries to show them the light
They laugh at his attempts
And follow the Devil into the night

And as they sink into degradation
Find solace in destruction and lies
He sits wearily on his throne
And then hangs his head and cries
