Rather cliche approach to a poetic fable
The ship of misdirection
Is a very splendid thing.
The sails are torn, the masts are down,
And of their many ventures,
The crew are never heard to sing.

The ship of misdirection
cuts a very pretty craft.
The bloodied plank is only used
Before the cruise
And aft.

The ship of misdirection
Is a galleon of war.
The swords are hung above the crew,
The cannons face the deck, a fact
Which all the Hands ignore.

The ship of misdirection
Leaves a wake of fearful tensions.
A route’s been found? The traitors drowned.
The captain sails to lose his way
And never makes concessions.

The ship of misdirection’s
Crew are desolate and poor.
To this teaming throng
I once belonged.
Was captain for a year or more.
Until I sailed in some direction
With the crew I now distain.
On finding land, we left the ship
Abandoned on the shore.
