a poem about growing up in two countries
Torn between both places
I feel like I don't belong
Seems I have two faces
How did it go so wrong?

I am cultured and smart
I can speak in two tongues
Knew both my lives by heart
Back when I was so young

I could make friends in less than a day
It just came to me with such ease
I was adjusted to life that way
The future should have been quite a breeze

Now it seems I'm neither here nor there
Caught between the present and past
To which my allegiance? How unfair!
Wanting to feel home at long last

As time goes on, I'm still rooted here
While everyone else goes on by
What's destined to be is yet unclear
'Til I make up my mind to try
