"Through The Windowpane"

The Stone Wall

I walked along an old stone wall
and watched the raging waters fall;
then felt the mist as it was thrown,
on sunlit rays a rainbow's grown.

The moisture glistened in the sun
as distant, silent rivers run,
through meadows of pastoral green,
" more peaceful setting", I've not seen.

As time had passed I'd lived and cried
but never once had Nature lied,
from tallest tree to mountain peak,
upon the wind, I'd heard her speak.

She wished that we would take more care
add beauty to the face she'll wear,
that all our children most of all;
could walk along the old stone wall.
