beautiful story set way-back-when about a knight, his fiance and a very special locket.
The gold shimmered in the sunlight
As the fiancée admired her gift
Her knight in shining armour
Knew her spirits it would lift

He knew as he proposed
The gold ring in his pocket
She would immediately forget
The precious missing locket

The locket that meant so much to her
That she held so dear to her heart
The locket that would never keep
Her parents and her apart

The girl’s parents died so long ago
When she was but a child
Her father killed in battle
Her mother’s grief not mild

For grief was the diving force
That drove her to despair
That showed to her life’s cruel side
What she had to fear

Mother soon fell to sickness
And she did not recover
Destined to fall to the same deep grave
As her brave and handsome lover

In this sentimental locket
Two paintings it did hold
Her mother and her father
Who without, the night was cold.

When the knight heard of the lockets loss
He knew what he must do
To alleviate his loved one’s pain
He knew to take his que

After ordering a thorough search
And coming up with nil
Ask his princess for marriage
Ask away, he will

Down on one knee he asked her
She didn’t know what to say
“Marry me”, and at last
Her fears all cast away

After the immediate wedding
So pure, white and gold
The precious locket appeared
Finally in from the cold
