      Rainbow Treasures

I found a pot of gold one day
I was the happiest gal on earth.
I carried it with me near and far
Trying to find out it's worth.
                *
I missed the bus, I missed the train
So I walked along this road.
I found a stream, began to cross
Still holding my pot of gold.
                  *
The clouds darkened, the rain began
Flooding this tiny stream.
Without warning I was swept away
Losing sight of all my dreams.
                *
Still holding to my pot
As the light began to fade..
To a river I was washed
On the bottom I did lay.
              *
Consequence or feather
There was no other road
Letting go was hard for me
But I was determined to lighten the load
                *
As I drifted toward the shore
Weathered and weak
I glanced toward the sky
Saw a rainbow at it's peak
                *
The clouds where dancing
Right above my head
There was joy in the air
As life and I wed
              *
To my surprise I saw a friend
Running my way
Nearly out of  breath
He began to say
              *
I was chasing this rainbow
Trying to find a pot of gold
And to my surprise
I looked and behold
                *
There you are!
Within the rainbows end
Dancing with the clouds
And whispering to the wind..
