It is a poem about a person who is searching for a beauty that they used to know.
Where are the stars at night?
Why don't they shine?
Is it just us or have they changed with us?
Where are the stars?
Where is the moonlight
Leading us through dark night?
Is it us or is the man of the moon afraid to show his face?
Where is the moon?

Where is the beauty of the night?
I just want to see the night sky.
Years go by and we all grow older.
Was this life worth living before it's over?
What happened?

Where are the clouds of cotton
Or are they just forgotten?
Is it just us or have they disappeared too?
Where are the clouds?

Where is the beauty of the night?
I just want to see the night sky.
Years go by and we all grow older.
Was this life worth living before it's over?
What happened?

The angels sing
But I can't hear a thing.
I stare blankly at the sky
Until something catches my eye.
Are those the stars I've been looking for
Or are the angels smiling down at us?

Oh, the gift of the beauty of the night.
I have finally seen the night sky.
Years have gone by and we've all grown older.
This life is worth living before it's over
You just have to know how to live it.
