growing old together
as the 10000 days wane
we, in a world,
the bustling of the insane
in contemplation
rocking chairs, my hand in yours
less now, the commotion
as the breeze,
so touches on
this life of ease

gray hairs and wrinkles cut deep within the face,
but so sweet are the days as I remember your teddy of lace
the quiet of the midday
disrupted by your enormous laugh
and the expressions said
how could I not join in.... but laugh.
slowing is our pace
as evening rolls into place
the breaking of bread moments after we say grace
humbling,
the memories, in all their joy
a remembering,
possibly of the stumbling
fine times in all, we were so less than coy
settling back,
listening to each others wisdom of lore
your smile, how could I not adore
the country charm still making its way
this and every day
golden is your heart, so giving, I mark
your warmth is your hold, in winter’s dark

the breeze blows wildly now
the scattering within the minds,
ever casting the inevitable signs
in your arms,
silent and truly in peace
my head upon your breast,
I can now find the promise.....
the essence of eternal rest.
