I went for a walk late at night. A car's headlights lit up a single telephone wire.
I saw a wire lit up like a
weary smile
stretched
between two posts and taut
like that night
(strained and weighted
it sat like one hard egg rolling in a pan)
splashed into view by a brazen headlight
cornered
dredged up from the night
