This is a poem I wrote to thank special people in my life who have helped me.
DIGGING OUT

Dark and dusty, no way out
I’m surrounded by the smell of fear
I’m alone, so...all alone
And I’ll never escape from here

I just keep digging further down
I didn’t know what else to do
And then one day, I don’t know how
A tiny bit of light broke through

Down into the deep dark pit
The place I had made for me
Came this little shaft of light
I could finally see

Why, there’s a rope…and a ladder there
Had I missed them all this time?
I put down the shovel, dusted myself off
And determinedly started to climb

The light began to brighten
As I sped along my way
Ever onward, getting closer
To the light of day

My eyes adjusting to the light
At last I finally see
Those who supported and those who cheered
And those who prayed for me.

Thank you
