This is a short Holocaust poem in the point of view of a Holocaust soldier.
I Am Still A Man

I am a man with a conscious
A man with a heart
I’ve been a human being
From the very start

Yet I am a man
With a weapon at hand
A man with orders
A man that still stands

I don’t shiver with cold
I don’t pray to God
I listen to the screams
As I murder without thought

I can’t stop what I’m doing
It’s an order I must obey
Yet even though I’m still going
My mind has gone astray

Oh, what have I become?
I’ve turned into one of them
A monster free to roam
A machine that condemns

For those who look at me with hatred
I willingly shed a tear
I have a new mission to start
So it will end here

I’m sorry for what I’ve done
And I plan to take a stand
Because who am I?
I am still a man
