Only a lifetime together
Hand in hand
And so detached
So blind

Only a lifetime together
To link us
To love

Putting down the apron
Abandoning my classrooms
Ten thousand miles of music
Sweat and hope
Empty road

Reaching you in time to taste a kiss
Bring my heart into your classroom with you
You need it more than I do

Empty apartment
Dirty dishes
I leave myself
To be ten thousand miles away
To wait alone
For you to come home
Feeling home in this space that carries your scent

All my time and money spent
To wait for you

You bring out the nurturer
I said I'd never be
In me

If it was really love
Than the bed we shared
Would never be too small

If it was really love
Than you'd put down the glass
To hold me

If it was really love
Than you'd ask me what I'm thinking of
When I'm left in your empty room
With only a longing

If it was love
Than I wouldn't have to ask for your time
When you're holding all of me
On a memory
Not worth remembering to you

If it was love
If it was true
Than I wouldn't have to say goodbye
You'd feel me leave
