Old or New poetry? Embrace both.
Trapeze Artist

By: Rusty Cason

Some connoisseurs of reading love the dead,

Not reading from the new work that we write;

An ocean of old thoughts fill up their heads,

They hear new things but cannot be contrite.

Their interesting condition overflows,

It leaves them empty, knowing nothing new;

Then soon the world starts doubting what they know,

They slowly fail at everything they do.

The wise one stands between both sides you see,

Much like a trapeze artist on a rope;

They moves from side to side, but equally.

Without the best of both they have no hope.

We have to learn from both the old and new.

Then use those things we learn, in what we do.
