A mother's reaction to a childs hope of bringing an elephant into the house
                            Elephant Woes

Don't bring that elephant into the house!
I'd much rather live with a little mouse
Or maybe a bird that can sing merrily
Perhaps a kitten to cuddle by me.

An elephant's messy and far too large
He needs to live outside in the yard.
There he can water the plants and the trees
Or swing his trunk to make us a breeze.

That elephant wouldn't fit in your bed!
He'd go through the house bumping his head
He' knock over things and walk through the wall
He doesn't belong in the house at all!
