The last seconds
Pass the Plate

I am so tired, cannot go on
My fight is pointless, for soon I'll be gone
Not yet dead, no longer alive
Into the unknown I take the dive
My body is stiff, unable to move
Is there a Heaven, who can prove?

I am so tired, cannot hold on
Have I lost the fight, already gone
Am I yet dead, but what is alive
Never again will this body thrive
My mind still races, yet the blood does not flow
Is there a Heaven, I need to know?

There must be a Heaven, for I see the light
So far away, yet still so bright
I need to move closer, the glow draws me near
I feel the warmth, no need for fear
I hear a voice, "reach for the light"
I hear a voice, "go into the light".

On my way, to Heaven I go
Basking eternally in the love and the glow
Suddenly closer, so strong is the heat
Where are the Angels I've come to meet
Flames everywhere, unable to move
Is there a Heaven, I still can't prove?
